Whether you’re an Apple fan or simply want to replace your iPhone’s battery, there are a few different options. You can go to an Apple Store to get the job done, or you can order the parts online. If you’re going to purchase a new iPhone, you’ll want to make sure you’ve read up on battery replacement before you start. Regardless of your preference, there are a few things to consider.
The battery connector bracket is a metal bracket on the bottom right side of the phone. The connector looks like a skinny backward “J.” To remove it, unscrew two lower screws. If the battery is stuck, use a plastic opening tool to gently pull it out. Be careful not to pry on the socket as you could damage it. After you’ve unscrewed the lower screw, carefully pull out the plastic tab to loosen the battery.
It’s important to note that the iPhone battery will degrade over time. It is a consumable, lithium-ion unit that will only last for a few years before needing replacement. Apple rates this battery age in battery cycles, which means that the battery will need to be replaced after a certain number of cycles. A cycle means that the battery can be charged to 100% again and drained to 0% again. Each cycle can be anything from two to several days, but if the capacity falls below 80 percent, it will cause problems and need to be replaced.
